The Mouse Adventure Invitational was INSANE… let’s just start there. Team Mickey News was comprised of Robert, Kevin, Tina and I. We were given a packet but told not to open any envelope in it until instructed to do so, because some of them are decoys, and we will be penalized if we do open it. We also had a passport of sorts which we had to use at certain check points. We also had two trading cards, which we had to exchange with teams competing in the Open event. With those instructions, we were off at 9:30.

Our first envelope told us to go to Downtown Disney and get various prices from shops but we first had to get the shops number from the directory. We were allowed to split up for this task. Once we had all our info, it was this very large math problem, which would give us a clue to find the person, who was waiting for us with our next clue. We were instructed to get on the Monorail at the Downtown Disney entrance where we would find our next clue. We were then given a puzzle with letters on the back and when we put it together it told us to open envelope E.

Our next task was basically to go count the cannon balls on top of City Hall… And to pick up a fast pass at Autopia… Now, you must remember that clues are not this straight forward. They are insanely encrypted. We went to the City Hall on Mainstreet, and looked for a while, and decided to just take a guess, and of course we were wrong. We opted for a 40 minute penalty to find out the answer. It was City Hall in Toon Town… sheesh, should have known. We were given our next clue which was a logic puzzle with Pooh. We had to solve it and find a person in Critter Country. We gave him our answer and were given paper hats to wear so that we could be split up. We had a list of things with numbers, how many this, how many that, wattage on a bulb, stuff like that. We split up the list and were off, to meet again at the castle. Once everyone was back we had to do more math and figure out a barcode. We had been given a Disney Dollar, and we had to go find the postcard that matched the barcode and buy it. Once we found it, we were back to Mouse Adventure Central (Carnation Plaza).

Our next clue was to go over by Ariel and find the Mouse Adventure people and one person had to guess the words to a song. Once that was done, we were told that the next leg had been canceled due to time issues. We were given the next clue. Off we went to Star Tours where we uncoding things to find our next clue which was to open another envelope. This clue was encrypted. At the beginning of the day we were given a lanyard with three different alphabets on it. Once we decoded the paper, we went to innoventions and did a google search for Mouse Planet. Once we clicked on the link, we were given instructions to examine our envelopes. They had written GPS points in ink we could only see under black light. Inside the envelope was a GPS map and we had to find the coordinates and go there… off we went to the Disneyland Hotel. We then had to choose between two tasks, we chose the collage, where we had to find one item that wasn’t on the HUGE collage of Disney memorabilia.

Once that was done, we were given yet another clue. This was a puzzle type thing to help us find ONE car in the parking structure with a Mickey Mouse in the drivers seat which had our next clue. We hopped on to the tram and were headed back near the park. Mickey’s clue gave us a locker number and combination. Once those numbers were entered, the locker would open and we would have our next clue. Teams who did not reach this point by 2:45 would be eliminated. We got there about 2:40. The next clue was to take the two trading cards we had traded with Open teams and that would help us with the room number since our next stop was the HOWARD JOHNSON on Harbor and Manchester… Holy crap. Off we went. Teams not at that checkpoint by 3:00 would be eliminated. Once we found the room, we had to pick between a word search and trivia contest. We chose the trivia contest. Once we answered one question right against David Koenig we were given our final clue. It was another encryption, in another alphabet… the one from Indiana Jones… thank goodness for those lanyards. Off we went to the finish line… It was one of the docks… right across from the Haunted Mansion, and where they sell Mc Donald’s French Fries. We were the eighth team to finish, but we won’t know our results till Wednesday. We did so well. Most teams did not even finish the race to even finish at all was an accomplishment. I am so proud of all my team mates… we did such a good job… even though we didn’t win, it was so much fun and I will do it again. We were told that we walked at least ten miles for the race…hehehehe… wow…
